The tip of a stick points out on the map the Gargano area where we will be exploring. The panoramic views of the town and surrounding hills afford us the opportunity to meet a few surprised inhabitants on a wall, children scurrying about, women carrying wine jugs and knitting, elderly people with pipes in their mouths. A man and a girl sell cheese shaped like little horses. We stop at the Cave of the Archangel, the market stalls, the city centre and the harbour.
