The only thing that kept him tied to the village was his deep love for his uncle's daughter, Kezik. As he grew older, Çelo struggled to survive as a shepherd, but eventually he could no longer endure his uncle and aunt's cruelty and ran away from home at the age of 14. Leaving the village with the intention of returning to take Kezik, Çelo finds her married to someone she does not love when he returns years later. Determined to claim his share of his father's fields and the girl he loves, Çelo does not give up, but both Çelo and Kezik will be tested by having to sacrifice great things for this cause.
